Description

The venerable art of tofu-making has met the time-honored tradition of salt cure smoking, and BOOM! Thrilling Food Bakon Strips are born. We believe people want whole, 100% plant-based foods, made with traditional, time-honored methods. So, just like humans have done for centuries, we took the goodness of the richest whole bean tofu, then salt-cured and smoked it. The thrilling result is so close to pork bacon, you have to eat it to believe it!

NOTE TO USER:  Please keep the product VERY CHILLED prior to using; this will make it easier to peel off the slices of Bakon.  If room temperature or warm, the product is susceptible to crumbling.

    A second review…I buy several packs of these at a time. I freeze them and put them in the fridge the day we are going to use them. They slice better cold. We start with a small cut (not all the way through to make the initial separation of the slice, and then a second pass gets it off neatly. We cook them in a cast iron skillet. The taste is amazing. The texture is not soft (unlike another reviewer’s opinion)…maybe just cook them a bit longer till crisp. We stack them up with lettuce, tomato, and vegan mayo on grilled bread. Damn kids…this is GOOD.

    So good! I watched the short video on the Thrilling Foods website that showed how to easily separate it using a butter knife, and described how to cook it for desired crispness/chewiness. It came out in perfect, yummy strips! Kept me from having some of the issues other reviewers have mentioned. 100% recommend!

    I have not purchased here YET, but my husband and I DID get to try this from a local store while visiting in Oregon. We made old fashioned BLTs. They were so good, we had them for dinner twice in a row and it was tempting a third night…but decided to go out instead. We used veganaisse, iceberg lettuce, and this brand of bakon…on good grilled bread, and the sandwiches were AMAZING.
    do keep it well chilled and separate carefully…we just browned it in a skillet. very minimal breakage. texture and taste, it was all there and we were reminiscing like kids. 😉

    Agree with other reviewer. Easily falls apart. It smelled like it was going to be amazing but the flavor was just not there. Had a really weird texture too. Like a pillowy soft texture. Soooooo not like real bacon.

    Falls apart when you try to separate the slices. Cooked it up and it smelled delicious, but really had no flavor, just very greasy. Had a very strange texture too. I didn’t even finish the package, threw it away. It was just really gross, except that it smelled good.

    Some of the pieces fell apart a little but the taste is absolutely phenomenal. It tastes exactly like how I remember bacon tasting.

    I can’t bring myself to eat pork and this is an 100% amazing product. Tastes exactly like bacon! I have tried all the bacon substitutes and there is nothing that comes close. All others seem to have a weird taste or texture. I learned from other reviews and left very chilled. Then cut up in inch sized pieces to cook. It was perfect. I would agree to pull off in large pieces probably would not have worked. You have to wait until each side is sufficiently cooked and builds a slight ‘crust’ prior to flipping or it will fall apart. If you can live with that, then you won’t be able to tell the difference between this and real bacon. Thank you for making this!!!!

    In terms of flavor, this is almost indistinguishable from real bacon. The flavor truly is amazing. The reason why I am giving 3 stars is because of the texture. The bacon just falls apart as soon as you take it out of the package and even if you manage to get it intact into your pan, flipping it is a major struggle to the point I have only had this bacon as large bacon bits since it feels impossible to keep together. I really hope they fix this issue because from a flavor perspective, this is the best plant based bacon there is.

    I don’t know what kind of sorcery this is, but this bacon was the bomb.com. I’m a faithful Sweet Earth girl. However, I was curious so I tried this brand. I would DEFINITELY buy again and again. They nailed this recipe from the aroma, taste to texture.

    I grew up in the American South eating LOADS of real bacon (I don’t eat meat anymore…almost 4 years now). So I’m sort of an ‘expert’ on bacon. This company has NAILED IT…as far as flavor/texture. My only criticism is the difficult nature of actually getting it from the package to the frying pan. I’ve tried it just slightly frozen & completely unthawed. They need to keep working on keeping the individual slices TOGETHER so they don’t just FALL APART on the trip from the package to the pan. It is also difficult to turn each slice without them falling completely apart. But if you can master this, you’ve got something incredible. I’ve not had a piece of real bacon that tasted any better. I hope the company will continue working on perfecting the texture though. This stuff ain’t cheap so you want to get every crumb. Five stars for everything save the aforementioned regarding texture.

    Amazing smoky and meaty flavor. It is difficult to keep intact, even if you freeze it a little before separating to cook, but the end result is just full of a savory and umami flavor. Definitely worth the occasional splurge for the best BLT.

    Amazing! Tastes very close to bacon. The texture is very close too. It crumbles apart very easily though so you have to be careful taking it out of the package.

    I have to agree this Vacon is amazing, the smell the taste is intoxicating. I just wish it was more in the pack 🙂 I ate the whole thing in one serving.

    I had it in the fridge and it became very soft HOWEVER, the taste is amazing.
    I may try freezing it and cooking it from there or oven bake it.

    Fragrance, texture, look and taste is absolutely outstanding! If chilled properly and separated with a butter knife, I find that each slice will hold together when placing on a pan or in your airfryer! If there was an option to give this 10 Stars I would! Best Plantbased Bakon out there!

    This was really impressive. You need to be careful taking it out of the package because it falls apart easily before it’s cooked. If you cook it for a long time, until brown, it has an excellent texture and the flavor is spot-on.

    I’ve never been so impressed with a vegan product as I am now. I hesitate to review it because I don’t want them to sell out LOL but I’m not that greedy. Ate/used the whole package (in all fairness, 8oz isn’t huge haha) 2 days. Not only am I recommending this to everyone I can, but am going to stock up because I may never be tempted by real bacon again!
